Investigation: Understand and interpret all logical functions in terms of the self relations of a complete function

NAND can be understood as saying that at least one of the arguments is false - thus it can be understood as a "failure" signal or a "crash". NOR can be understood as saying that all of the arguments are false - it is a "total crash".

Meaning

  • And means: If any input is true, then
  • Nand means: If any input is

Nand is similar to the square root of negative one. For A Nand A = Not A.

  • Not A = A Nand A
  • A = Not(Not A) = (Not A) Nand (Not A) = (A Nand A) Nand (A Nand A)

Observations

  • A Nand A - it is the same A that is referred to - this is an important example in discussing the types of equivalence
