- Problem: current system is based on supply and demand ... and demand is poorly organized.
- Hierarchy of options for making a living based on originality of research - how "independent" you should be able to work.
- Options should include Patreon support (help to be validated and promoted).
- Rewards for volunteer work already done.
- Work on collaborative projects.
- Contribute to repositories of public knowledge. (Wikipedia gives library priveliges). Write Wikipedia articles. Collect ways of figuring things out in various disciplines.
- Community currency.
- Option: part-time jobs (teaching assistants, tutors...)

- Proposals will be reviewed twice a year soon after the spring deadline of 15 April and the autumn deadline of 15 November.
- Research-in-groups. This is a proposal for a small group of 3 to 6 researchers to spend from 2 weeks to 3 months in Edinburgh on a reasonably well-defined research project. The researchers will be provided working space and funds for accommodation and subsistence.
